EnLIGHTenment Series:  Exploring the Spiral Staircase

Wednesday, October 30th, 2024
Gathering at 5:30pm, Program begins at 6pm, and concludes at 8:30pm

The Spiral Staircase, illustrated in Fr. Thomas Keating’s book entitled:
Intimacy With God
From the Chapter: Psychology of Centering Prayer

The significance of a regular practice of Centering Prayer is the paramount experience of offering oneself in companionship to the indwelling of the Divine Presence within. The presentations offered in the Enlightenment series encourage and inspire one’s initiative to discover, awaken, and to be renewed in the reality of that Presence which exists within each one of us.

The presentation on the Spiral Staircase will strive to offer a deeper explanation and discussion of spiritual growth as illustrated by the horizontal and vertical diagram that Fr. Thomas Keating presents in his book entitled “Intimacy With God.” The first presentation of the Enlightenment series, “Stages of Prayer & Faith Development,” spoke of three primary stages of spiritual growth that one may encounter in the desire to discover and deepen a relationship with the living God. In the Spiral Staircase, Fr. Thomas offers the correlation of expanding faith and deepening of the spiritual journey in the contemplative dimension.
