“We share in centering prayer when done in common, a reservoir of silence that is enhanced by each one’s contribution.”
Thomas Keating, Reflections on the Unknowable
Our lives can be fast and furious at times in a sometimes frenetic culture. Come join us for stillness and restorative silence… to sit with intentioned presence to breath and spirit… to invite the spirit to guide you more deeply into Truth. Come tune into your inner being and feel the strength of others as we pray together and share the path to contemplation.
COStL invites you to come help create a safe and quiet space where we can rest in the divine presence, bearing witness to our individual and collective need to do so. A time of prayer, scripture, sharing and support for the journey.
There will be two centering prayer periods and a Lectio Divina Session and optional sharing.
- Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina is the most traditional way of cultivating a friendship with Christ. It is a way of listening to the texts of scripture as if we were in conversation with Christ and he was suggesting the topics of conversation. The daily encounter with Christ and reflection on his word leads beyond mere acquaintanceship to an attitude of friendship, trust, and love. Conversation simplifies and gives way to communing, or as Gregory the Great (6th century), summarizing the Christian contemplative tradition, put it, “resting in God.” This was the classical meaning of contemplative prayer for the first sixteen centuries.
Light refreshments will be available. Doors open at 8:30 am with welcome and introductions at 9:00 am. Register Here!
